Allentown CHARGE Moves Forward!

Thanks to all who attended another fun, delicious, and successful Chen Arts Group (CHARGE) dinner party at House of Chen Restaurant on Saturday night. All of our VIP back room reserved tables were filled and over 36 people attended. Soon we will need the entire restaurant to hold our fast-growing group of Chensters!

Special Note: In attendance Saturday Night was world famous artist (and graciously nice man), Mr. Imagination! Here's a link: Use Your Imagination

Exciting News: CHARGE is planning a gallery show in downtown Allentown during the holiday weekends in December and we are confident we can make this happen with so many enthusiastic and talented people working together again in a spirit of community. The Butz family has generously offered their 1st floor space at the Butz Corporate Center at 9th and Hamilton as the space! How cool is this ... let's discuss ...

This Holiday Art Season, "Buy @ Butz."

I think the Butz building is a great location. It's nice of the Butz Corp to support CHARGE.

And, yes I hope people will "buy at Butz" This is a great opportunity for people to purchase art from Allentown area artists. And there are a lot of artists! Three pieces were sold at Pete's show.
There will be a variety of artists represented: sculptors, photographers, painters, a mosaic artist. Oh, and we have videographers and a dancer in the group, as well as musicians.

If anyone is interested in making a food donation for our opening, please let me know.

We're hoping our local media can find some time and space to cover this 2nd Chen Arts Group Show. They all inadvertently missed out on covering Chen's smasheroo premiere happening at Pete's place during the Allentown House Tour....

Pro-Activism and Volunteerism are alive and well in a flourishing and exciting new arts scene in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Yes. We can.

This next show will be a lot of work(again) but I think everyone is really excited. I'm glad the momentum is continuing. Everyone in this group seems very dedicated. Now...as for a show name...lets share some ideas. We need to get that flier made ASAP!

Wait, I just had an idea for a show name:

"Paint the Town Red...and Green"

Any thoughts?

Sarina,

As far as show title and theme I have been thinking along the lines of "celebrations" or "renewal". It will be a new year, there will be a new president, a new art show,
holiday celebrations.

I like your idea of Paint the town red... and green! It's festive and positive.

... to the several hundred e-mailers asking, "why no photograph of BILL VILLA?!" among the montage, well, for one, I am VERY publicity-shy, and actually there is a photo of Mrs. Dottie and me together that was snapped by expert photographer "Itz Me Dave" that's coming, so please, just be patient (and no more e-mails) ...

Yes, I actually had to threaten Bill to sit still for the photo op. I threatened to not play bass for him ever again, LOL

It was a pleasure to see so many of 'US' in attendance there on Saturday and to meet yet a few others i had not yet met.

Looking forward to walking through the space on Wednesday and working on the upcoming show.

Hi Dave,

Thanks, we have a lot of work ahead of us, but I know we can do it if we all pull together!

Alfonso,

Thanks, best of luck with your event this weekend.

Sarina, On second thought "paint the town red" may be misconstrued as negative, considering the origin of the phrase.

Let's discuss back channel, please e-mail me with any ideas. Thanks!

Just wanted to mention here that almost everyday I get an e-mail or two from artists, most from ALlentown, who are interested in being in our group. There is so much talent here, and such diversity (and I mean that in the REAL sense, not just as a catch phrase)Here is just and example: Mohamed from Deli Plaza restaurant on Hamilton is a mosaic artist, Duane "Yodi" makes puppets and has a studio on Hamilton St, Mr. I has a folk art style.

I ran into a chenster at the Allentown Art Museum last night, I'm so excited to see this group becoming a major force in the city. YAY!
