George Clooney at The White House

Oo la la! Yesterday my fave actor, the Academy Award winning George Clooney met with President Obama and Vice President Biden at the White House to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Darfur. He asked the administration to appoint a "high-profile full time envoy" to Darfur. They said "yes." Darn, I missed George on Larry King last night! I think the genocide in Darfur is something that we just can't ignore, even though we are in an economic crisis at home. Clooney believes that the United States can help, not by sending money, but through diplomacy. It's great to see that Obama's doors are open.

So, who is your favorite celebrity/political activist??

For me it's Bono from U2. He has done a lot for Africa/AIDS awareness, nominated for Nobel Peace Prize.

I praise George Clooney because is focus on Darfur is greatly needed.

But the point of this post is to note that Obama's White House door is open to Hollywood. Agreed, it is open to Hollywood.

Clinton's door was open to Hollywood - his Lincoln Bedroom guests included Barbra Streisand, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Neil Simon, and Jane Fonda.

JFK's door (including is bedroom door) was open to Hollywood - remember Marilyn Monroe?

The Democratic Party has been wedded to Hollywood for decades.

Anon,

Actually the point of the post is to share who your favorite celeb/activist is. I mentioned that Obama's door is open because he is more open to ideas than previous admin. ( and not just Hollywood) And I think if Hollywood can call attention to Darfur then that's a good thing.

And there were R presidents whose bedroom doors were open too (wink wink)

Here's Bono w/ the worst President in U.S. history, George W. Bush, who will hopefully be imprisoned for war crimes w/ Dick Cheney.

The political activist (he became a celebrity via "Saturday Night Live") whose relentless activity has produced the most tangible benefit for America and consumers worldwide is, arguably, this guy.

VILLAS:

Your political activism head-hunting of DA Jim Martin has paid off. After a YEAR, Sleepy Jim has finally filed charges in the DUI homicide case you referenced in your recent excellent Martin exposé ...

About Fuckin' Time, Jim

Bill Villa said...

Thanks, Watchdog. This is the kind of political pressure that vigilant political blogs are capable of applying, when people aren't pusillanimous about head-butting big bad crony crooked guys like Jim Martin. Time for the "Lehigh Valley Somebody" staff to celebrate another victory, briefly, before we put our eagle-eye-balls back on Jumbo Jimbo, our soon to be Ex-DA.

Nice work Villas. Now keep an eye on that plea deal process will you (I know you will).

It must be harder for Martin to run for the hills w/ his panties all wet.

Bill Villa said...

Martin can "run" to the gates of hell but he'll never get away from me.

Anonymous said...

"Martin said his office was unable to conclude whether charges were warranted until Feb. 24, when it received results of forensic tests"

That's Feb. 24 ... A FREAKIN' YEAR LATER. And The Morning Call "reporter," Manny Gamiz, had no followup questions here, right?

Well Jarrett, hopefully you will come to discover, as I have, that your favorite "political activist" isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. He's not a political activist either. He's a damaging liar. Big difference.

Ok, back on topic, Scarlett Johansson exiting ocean after saving a whale.

Bill Villa said...

Readers, here's The Morning Call's Latest Version of the DUI Homicide case "Watchdog Reporter" brought to our attention yesterday.

The case it took DA Jim Martin a YEAR to file charges on.

I notice the "newspaper" has about 6 different versions of it at its website. Is this to helpfully dilute and confuse the issue? Or to divide and conquer the Forum comments so they don't pile up in one handy to read article?

Look for a "Sunday Bloody Sunday" (not a threat) analysis and exposé on this case here at LVS on Sunday. And it'll be an exclusive, we're positive, as The Morning Call is focused on Martha Stewart's puppy on its front page today.

that there was whistle blower

who had a mountain of evidence

on billionaire ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff

and that this person had been trying to get

for ten (10) years.

My point being: how much longer can The Morning Call continue to ignore Bill Villa? 20 years? 30 years? Longer?

Those Morning Call Forum "editors" who don't have time to catch and delete the Forum's rampant "hate speech" somehow found time to delete comments #9 and #12 from this thread

It's a shame your local blogosphere has its collective head up its collective ass. Here's what they're doing, instead of what Mr. Villa advocates:

LV Blogosphere all about Political Posturing, Pomposity, Puffery

Bill Villa said...

Three great catches in a row, thanks X3.

Don't forget, most of our local bloggers sold out to, and work for, The Morning Call ...

Anonymous said...

Bill, look at it this way, if you were totally pusillanimous like O'Hare and Molovinsky, who would YOU single out for "Bitch Slapping" ...

Sam Bennett

or ...

Jim Martin

Bill Villa said...

I see your point.

Angie Villa said...

What actual harm has Sam Bennett caused to people? Jim Martin ruins people's lives and gets away with it. The local neo-con blahgosphere has their heads up their ----
Maybe some don't like Bennett's personality, or maybe she's just an easy target, being an outspoken liberal democrat woman who has had some success. Those pussilanimous blahgers like to go after women like Joyce Marin (calling her a lightweight and not qualified) and me (calling me a grant seeking Stepford Wife and a robot) These creeps just make stuff up. They all want to be the BMOC (Big Man on Campus)But they just wind up looking and smelling like the Bowel Movements on Campus.
I don't read their crap anymore, and anyone (male or female) who supports them or believes them is NOT worth knowing.
Jim Martin is a REALLY dangerous bad guy, wake up Lehigh Valley.
LVS will stand up for what we believe no matter what dumb crap the other blahgers are united on.
This has gone way OT but the reason we started blogging way back was to expose Martin because the "newspaper" won't do it. We have bigger, (personal and life altering) issues than Sam Bennet and puppies.

Real men bitch slap Jim Martin.
