Artists For Allentown Will Meet Again

Our 2nd Artist get-together will be held Sat. May 31, 6:30 pm at House of Chen, 732 Hamilton St. I have invited Randall Forte from the LV Arts Council, Debora Roberson/Eric Butz (architects), and I am waiting to hear from someone at the Allentown Art Museum.

We should discuss the theme, space possibilities, and date for an indoor art event, and talk about street art at Alfonso's event in July. Also the idea of "support" for the arts and what that really means in Allentown. Bethlehem features local artists' work in the Rotunda at City Hall. Can we do this? We need good exposure.

Should we apply for grants? What do you think?

PS If anyone is attending the Visioning Meeting tonight please mention our group.

Hope to see you at Chez Chen! Bring a pen.

Thanks Gregory,

Alfonso will be contacting Joyce Marin. Let's see what opportunities are available, and who shows up at our meeting. The word is out.

I've contacted John McClave, owner of the Dime bank building at Center Square, about joining us on the 31st. John wants to meet everyone and said he would check his schedule (i.e., his wife). If he can't attend the dinner, there may be another chance to meet with him that weekend. I'll keep you posted.

Joe,
Good to hear from you. I think the Dime would be a great location.

Hello,

I apologize, but I will be out of state that weekend watching my son's senior project (a play he will direct and in which he will perform).

Please keep me informed.

Best regards,

Michael Donovan

I think the most direct way to "support the arts" would be to purchase and collect art created by Allentown artists.

That's why exposure is important, having a prime location place to show work so VIP's can see it and if they like it, buy it.

There are other pieces to this puzzle that should be discussed too. That's why I invited Art Museum woman, Arts Council too because they should have artists on file, and explain how artists can get registered with their org's
to meet patrons. How can artists get their worked placed in auction at galas and social events for the wealthy? Lots of questions.

Glenn,

I tried sending this to you via e-mail from your web site but it got returned to me.

Hi Glenn,

I enjoyed your website. Your work reminds me a little of artist Red Grooms (the figures) and Romare Beardon, even though his work is collage. If you would like me to feature your work at my blog, please let me know. Do you have a bio?
