Here's our favorite suite to hang out in at the Chelsea Hotel (so far), 1024.
Here's what we did in Manhattan, this past Sunday through Tuesday ...
Strawberry Fields, Central Park
Empire State Building, 102nd Floor
The Family Jewels Vintage Clothing
American Museum of Natural History
Rub ("Righteous Urban Barbeque") BBQ
Lots of Subway Rides, 1, E, and C trains
"Hotel Chelsea Sign," photo by Gianni Villa (plus 400+ other shots we're still sorting through)

NYC is always a lot of fun we go in as often as possible. My wife and I go in during the week to feed my music obsession, Two weeks ago it was dinner @ Dawat (the best Indian in the world) and to Birdland to see one of the finest jazz guitar players in this world John Abercrombie. Have never stayed at the Chelsea but I would love to, nice post thanks Bill.
Thanks Tom, glad you enjoyed, and we highly recommend staying in any suite at the fabulous Hotel Chelsea ...
I second that, and don't let its reputation as the hipster capital of the universe throw you, everybody there (workers, permanent residents, guests) are among the nicest and friendliest people we've ever met. Best of all, from the top floor to the lobby, the Chelsea Hotel is (literally) a wall-to-wall art gallery.
It sounds like you're having a lot of fun, Villas! I'm exhausted just reading your list. Have a great time in NYC and a great Thanksgiving too!
PS: Gianni is a very talented photographer!
Angie
Excellent pictures. Gianni is really good with the camera. It sounds like you guys had a great time. I try to get into NYC at least once every other month to visit my son. He lives in the Village.
Speaking of the Chelsea Hotel my sister, Adrianne, just saw Leonard Cohen in North Carolina. She said it was one of the best concerts she had ever been to.
We had such a riot, exhausted now though (that was an ambitious itinerary). Happy Thanksgiving to you too, and yes, it does appear that Gianni Villa "knows when to click," he got tons of great shots (and movies).
To the Villas
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
Heidi
Thanks Heidi, Happy Thanksgiving 2 U 2, and Bill sez 2 tell U that you're a "perpetual hipster."
Actually I said Heidi's a "perpetual hipster LIKE ME" (Mrs. Dottie left that part out). And yes, we hear that Leonard Cohen (a permanent hipster resident of the Hotel Chelsea some moons back) is just knocking them dead on his current tour, very cool.
Beatlemaniac Gianni Villa was hoping to catch a glimpse of Mrs. John Lennon at the Dakota, but it wasn't meant to be ...
Way cool post daddio Bill ;) Gives me some ideas for my next trip into the city. Unfortunately my last trip in besides company holiday parties was with the band (the Villas)... how long ago? YIKES! Gotta work that in and SOON!
Yes, I am keeping an eye on that lad with his camera too! He'll be outselling me in no time if I am not careful!
Nico, "Chelsea Girls"
Ha! Thanks Jon, nice version of the "Chelsea GIrls" song (Bill likes the grinder overdrive guitar tone). The Chelsea Hotel these days is very "PG Rated" btw, many tourists with kids, and hardly anybody looking like they're strung out on heroin ;D
Hey dB (Happy Thanksgiving), I can't believe how long it's been since we last played NYC, here ...
Looks like you had a great NYC v-a-c-a-t-i-o-n Villas! I'm jealous! (just sayin' :) happy for you).
Start spreading the news,
I'm leaving today.
I want to be a part of it -
New York, New York.
These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
And step around the heart of it
New York, New York.
I want to wake up in a city,
That doesn't sleep,
To find I'm king of the hill- ah-
Top of the heap.
My little town blues
Are melting away
I'm gonna make a brand new start of it
In old New York.
If I can make it there,
I'd make it anywhere
It's up to you,
New York, New York.
New York, New York!
I want to wake up in a city,
That doesn't sleep,
To find I'm king of the hill,
Head of the list,
Cream of the crop
At top of the heap.
My little town blues
Are melting away
I'm gonna make a brand new start of it
In old New York.
If I can make it there,
I'd make it anywhere
Come on, come through,
New York, New York.
(thanks) New York, New York, it's a wonderful town ...
FRANK!
Liza's (no slouch) original version. Liza's mom Judy lived at The Dakota. Just sayin'.
High Line Slide Show
Thank you, we should have had this slide show up earlier. Just sayin'.
"Merci" for this "Mapquest of NYC Subways" VERY useful!
Notre plaisir, we use it all the time.
