Dunce Corner: Paul Carpenter

Readers (don't miss this), in today's Morning Call "newspaper," "columnist" Paul Carpenter who we emailed a link to our Most Recent Post on DA Jim Martin on Monday morning does a just masterful misdirection job on it, spending nearly his entire article musing about Japanese word usage.

Read: Paul Carpenter's column.

Carpenter finally gets around to mentioning his "no nonsense" (wink wink) buddy
DA Jim Martin in the last coupla sentences:

"District Attorney James Martin appealed to Superior Court, which relied on a rare trait (sanity) in the appellate court system and upheld Steinberg. Saturday's story said Martin may further appeal the case to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Given my opinion of the Supremes, which is no better than my opinion of pimps and prostitutes of any ethnicity, that appeal could very well be successful." -Paul Carpenter

Very clever, Paul.

So (in your opinion) the PA Superior Court applied "sanity" in upholding Judge Steinberg's presumably good call (in your opinion) to toss DA Jim Martin's case (on its ear) out of Lehigh County Common Pleas Court ...

but if the PA Superior Court's (and Judge Steinberg's) ruling gets reversed by the PA Supreme Court, well that'll be because they're all like "pimps and prostitutes" on that bench ... and (you're like freakin' Houdini, Paul) NOT A WORD ON THE SCREAMING ASSHOLE FACTOR HERE, i.e., your pal DA Jim Martin, who is ARROGANTLY AND STUBBORNLY REFUSING TO LET GO OF THIS PAYING FOR SEX ISSUE, WHILE WASTING THE TAXPAYERS' AND THE COURTS' TIME & MONEY, AND ALL B/C JIM'S GIGANTIC but fragile EGO HAS BEEN BRUISED BY JUDGE STEINBERG.

Paul. You may be fooling
Jim Martin ... and his trembling fan base of super voters aged 80+ ... but you're not fooling the authors and readers of this blog, and we all vote too.

WOW. Paul Carpenter. Diabolical? Or just D-U-M-B.

They're not mutually exclusive ...

All the MC's senior subscribers will glom is:

"Martin is appealing"

and

"Paul Carpenter thinks he'll be successful."

Jimbo, you owe Paul Carpenter another (hiccup) drink there, buddy (burp).

... just more proof that The Morning Call "newspaper" will not lay a glove on DA Jim Martin, no way, no how.

Why isn't "Renshaw" or their "Watchdog Reporter" Paul Muschick on this story?

Bill Villa said...

Excellent Question that deserves to be answered:

>WHY< won't the "newspaper" lay a glove on Martin?

What's the quid pro quo ("pay to play?")

Bill Villa said...

In the up-front of his moronic/dunce article, Paul Carpenter describes this Shiatsu sex fiasco as ...

" ... a legal dispute involving North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County Court, the state police and a new ruling by the Pennsylvania Superior Court."

Yo Paul, you "forgot" (wink wink) to mention this dispute's unrelenting driving force (or is that "farce"), DA Jumbo Jim Martin.

An "honest" (wink wink) mistake?

McJudas said...

All the MC editors (and the Publisher) missed this by accident too, "honest" (wink wink).

Bill Villa said...

I suppose "managing" editor Dave Erdman and assistant content gopher Mike Miorelli missed it via "honest" mistake too?

Mais oui :)

Carpenter's wrong when he says in today's paper:

"Saturday's story said Martin MAY (my emphasis) further appeal the case to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court."

This is wrong.

Saturday's story says Martin ...

"plans to seek review by the state Supreme Court."

Nothing "may"(be) about it Paul.

Bill, I'm "sure" (wink wink) there'll be corrections and clarifications forthcoming ASAP :)

and don;t forget, the poor babies ARE short staffed (sigh).

After all, it only took the "newspaper" a MONTH (30 days) to print the correction that the jury had found O'Malley's bar negligent in Sheena's death, instead of NOT NEGLIGENT, which is what the "newspaper" kept repeating for a month (on purpose) and which was 180 degrees wrong. Now THere's a screaming asshole factor for you.

Journalists used to take pride in being accurate. No more. Now, hacks like Paul Carpenter are like shitty accountants who think hey I was within a coupla bucks whad,'ya want?!

Bill Villa said...

Well said 2:52, and 2:47, we won't hold our breath on anybody at the "newspaper" or the DA's office ever admitting they're wrong about anything ...

It's funny how the locals whine and complain about Pawlowski alledgedly engaging in "Chicago style politics" but never even notice the corrupt actions of Jimbo and his good ol' boys and their Allentown style politics.

Bill Villa said...

This is what happens when there's 1 "newspaper" in a town. It would be way less aggravating around here with 0 newspapers or one called, "Obituaries & Coupons."

For years, I've wondered why that hack Carpenter still has a job. Silly me. My mistake for assuming the MC actually wants intelligent thoughts, observations or opinions from its columnists. The mystery as to why the MC is a failure on life-support has been solved now that LVS connected the dots for me. (Carpenter can now turn his attention toward his favorite and overwritten topics: teachers, school boards, lawyers, judges and anything having to do with his military service -- but not on Veteran's Day, that would make too much sense.)

Bill White's just as awful: "Movie Quotes" and eating his way through Musikfest. And both "writers" I must add are totally and pathetically pusillanimous and not man enough to have ever responded to any of my outreaches to them when their buddy DA Jim Martin was trying (unsuccessfully) to fix my daughter Sheena's wrongful death case. May they both join Pappy Kranzley at the glue factory ASAP.

8:57 ... merci.

Not for nothing, but I think White is worst than Carpenter. At least Carpenter tries to ahere to his core values, White is a semi-literate that scribbles for a bankrupt newspaper. All White should do is clean the powdered sugar from his goatee and keep writing about movie quotes.

Bill Villa said...

... depends on how we define "worse."

I see Bill White as harmless, only semi-literate, and totally inane. Bill White also likely doesn't have the cranial circuitry required for collusion. He's a guilty pleasure, although not for me.

Paul Carpenter's "carrying of water" for Jim Martin is well-known and laugh-out-loud obvious. And Carpetner is not harmless in this regard; just the opposite. Carpenter's purposeful mis-directing dissertation on Japanese word usage ("Vice cop vice, however, is not the crisis at hand. This is personal; it's about domestic tranquility ...") is really shameful.

Our DA (Jim Martin) is behaving like an idiot and a spoiled brat. He is wasting the taxpayers' and the PA courts' time, money, and resources in continuing to try to get his way on an issue that has now been shot down by 2 levels of courts. Even the guilty state cops Martin insists on defending have thrown in the towel a long time ago.

Jim Martin should be being "called out" by our local mainstream media for his infantile, petty, and totally self-absorbed ego driven behavior in this matter.

Instead, Paul Carpenter writes a "tra la la" smokescreen story that Foo Foo is 100% right about , i.e.,

"All the MC's senior subscribers will glom is: "Martin is appealing" and "Paul Carpenter thinks he'll be successful.""

Re: Paul Carpenter and The Morning Call "newspaper," this is ...

* dishonest
* lazy
* an abuse of position
* a disservice to MC readers
* a disservice to the truth
* an insult to the intelligence (of some of us)
