Our Fifth Fabulous Event!

Attention friends and local glitterati: The scene-stealing Allentown Chen-Arts Group will be holding it's fifth fabulous monthly happening at the Musselman Arts Center 601 Hamilton St, Allentown on this Saturday Sept. 6th, 6:30 PM.

We'll meet in the offices of the Antonio Salemme Foundation, on the second floor. We will be charging over to Chen for dinner at around 7:30-8:00. Jenny Chen said we need to make sure we order food before 8:30. I have reserved the back room for our party. I am excited about meeting some new artists, and of course seeing all of you dedicated Chennies. Joe Skrapits is taking charge of the show at Musselman. Pete Lewnes has some exciting newses! We might be able to have a group show real soon, but I will let Pete tell you about that. Joe will talk about the studio building at 4th and Tilghman and the future NoTi arts district. I hope everyone had a chance to see the article in last Sunday's Morning Call and the 69 News spot. The fabulous Chen Arts group was mentioned in TMC's article. Exciting things are happening for the arts in Allentown and I am proud to be a part of this positive movement!
Did I mention how fabulous this is?

Sorry to see you had to "o'hare" Proof your blog against the factually impaired.

CHEN 5! Is this fabulous or what?! And yes I DID see that fabulous article in last Sunday's Morning Call (a fabulous newspaper!!) that name-checked our fabulous Chen Arts Group (CHARGE). And I loved the fabulous Chenster Joe Skrapits coverage on 69 ... news, that is. Hey did anybody invite The Morning Call's Arts Writer/Editor/Hipster Extraodinnaire Geoff Gehman? This is a happening he wouldn't wanna miss ...

I love the pictures you keep posting with your Chen blogs. If only our group looked so cool! Maybe we should pose for a sweet black & white picture that makes us look like the crew at the Factory! (But I guess there were other reasons they looked the way they did...)

Thanks Sarina,

That Factory Crew was kinda extreme, but I like the idea of posing for a group shot! Our son is coming to our next event, and he will be taking pictures!

my name is pat wallace has left a new comment:

sounds like a resurgence of the extraordinary a-town art scene of the late 70s/early 80s, only less toxified and more just plain fun. great new art, lots of faboo art-folk for company and oh, that house of chen. are you kidding me? you'd have to be nuts, in jail or strictly squaresville to miss out on one of these. ah'll bee dahn.

Thanks Alfonso. We are going to keep this ball rolling!

The guy in the upper right corner of the Wahol/factory pik looks like Rolling Stones (at the time) bass player Bill Wyman ...

... and in the lower left ... is that ... Elvis? (or one of the first Elvis impersonators?)

Yep. Amazing the huge juggernaut of a ball that can get started rolling by one, two people ...

Bill, and Angie, I applaud you.

What you have done in the local blog world this past month in defense of yourself and your family is the blogging equivalent of what Muhammad Ali did to George Foreman in Zaire in 1974. It was a brilliant strategy Ali dubbed, "Rope-A-Dope," and it was a beautiful thing to watch. It resulted in big bad nasty bully George getting knocked out, to everyone's surprise, except Ali's. Over the Labor Day weekend, in between several Bar-B-Q's and trips to The Allentown Fair, I watched you Rope-A-Dope about a half a dozen nasty blogger bullies and knock them all clean out of the ring. It was a stunning performance and I just had to tell you that.

... thanks, love the boxing analogy, although to us it felt more like bull fighting. Or bull(shit) fighting. It's a dirty job but somebody's gotta do it ...
