Lehigh Valley Blogosphere

'ROUND THE BLAH-GAS-SMEAR

Mike Molovinsky: Is now on a "mission" to "confront hypocrisy," a.k.a.
Bernie O'Hare.

Oh okay now we get it. It had to be his idea.

LVCI: Quitters Never Win.

ElVee, if you need any tips on how to outmaneuver that self-duped dunce O'Hare, do give a ring.

Mellow Yellow: Allentown Ethics Board (sigh) here you come.

Geez. It's like professional wrestling in our local blogosphere, what w/ all the good guy, bad guy, flip-flopping continuously.

One week Chris Casey is O'Hare's beleaguered victim (or vice versa) and then before you know it Casey is french kissing O'Hare again (or email circulating chapters of a blog novel that depicts an O'Hare-esque blogging character from Nazareth dead at his computer w/ the keyboard inserted rectally and postmortem ouch).

Then Mike Molovinsky is O'Hare's victim du jour, or vice versa. And then Mikey is re-pledging his O'Hare allegiance (or kvetching at or about him).

Now LVCI is "on" to O'Hare (for now).

Sadly, Mike Donovan is permanently O'Hare-Duped.

Ditto Jeff Pooley. Pam Varkony. Dean Browning. Don Cunning-Ham. Alex Joseph. John Stoffa. Sal Panto. Tony Iannelli. The Morning Call "newspaper." Attorney (for now) Dave Najarian. Sheesh. It's all documented in our right sidebar content.

And then there's this (and Allentown Ethics Board take note b/c this one's especially for you) from the ...

Master Of Miss-Direction.

Well anyways, we're glad you're all (for now) finally seeing the light about O'Hare, "guys."

Pardonez-moi Angie and me as we set the Truth Trends and stay above the fray.

Just sayin'.

The Morning Call's Other "News" (wink wink) Sources

[This post was custom composed for Tim Ryan, the new Publisher and CEO of The Morning Call. We've emailed him a link to this post.]

Mr. Ryan: respectfully, it's disgraceful and disgusting that The Morning Call routinely links its online news stories to disgraceful, disgusting, and disbarred lawyer Bernie O'Hare's Lehigh Valley Ramblings blog as "another source" for news.

O'Hare was kicked out of the lawyering profession for (in the findings of the Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court) dishonesty, fraud, deceit, misrepresentation, unauthorized activity, forgery, cover-up, conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice, illegal conduct, and moral turpitude [evil intent]. It's all in The Morning Call archives.

Mr. Ryan, are these the Tribune Company's new resume requirements for its "Valley Blogosphere" bloggers and the Morning Call "reporters" who hang (and hang all day, it appears) on these local blogger/opinion venters' every keystroke?

We're hoping your answer is no, and we're also hoping you'll actually answer us-- something the co-architect of "Valley Blogosphere" (w/ O'Hare) didn't have the stomach for.

Mr. Ryan, for your consideration ... your Morning Call "political insider" blogger O'Hare is currently being sued, and your "master of ethical civility" blogger Michael Donovan is currently being probed by the Board of Ethics of the City of Allentown.

O'Hare has never been rehabilitated. O'Hare is still openly and publicly threatening to sabotage the civil litigation of already suffering, grief-stricken families-- the same thing he did, w/ evil intent, to his own African American civil rights client George Usry, and Luzerne County widow Lucille White and her three fatherless children and for which O'Hare was disbarred.

Here's something else you should know, Mr. Ryan.

Staffers from "The Tribune Company" (The Morning Call), your employees, are spotted on this blog's SiteMeter(R), reading this blog, for extended periods of time, sometimes as many as a dozen or more times each day, every day, including weekends.

Curiously, they never report on any of the news items they find so mesmerizing here.

As an astute commenter at our most recent blog post suggested ...

--------------------

Bill ... Maybe you should email Mr. Ryan a note informing him each time one of his employees visits LVS presumably on company time using a company computer. Mr. Ryan might appreciate the heads-up and look into why his employees are visiting so often during working hours, yet not producing any news articles as a result.

If I was a CEO, I'd see this as a productivity issue.

If I was a publisher, I'd want to know what my newspaper employees were repeatedly looking at that was so damn interesting - yet not interesting enough to get a news story out of.

Perhaps he would spare you sufficient minutes for you to open his eyes re: the disgraceful abomination that is the Morning Call's current model of how to go about affiliating with local blogs.

This is not a trivial part of how a newspaper presents itself to existing and potential consumers.

Wed Apr 21, 11:57:00 AM 2010

--------------------

Mr. Ryan, we'd like to meet with you. Would you give us that opportunity?

We'll contact you again next week, by phone, to arrange a meeting.

Thank you for your consideration.

Beatnik Brosky Bops By to Banter w/ Bill

Relentless local music legend Steve Brosky (center) dropped by The Villa's security-patrolled North Allentown estate on Monday afternoon (he had an appointment).

With co-writer (and videographer and theatre impressario) Ara Barlieb (right) manning the tape recorder and joining in the discussion, Steve and Ara interviewed and gabbed w/ Bill Villa (left) for about an hour and a half.

Steve and Ara are writing a cool new book, a combination of Brosky's Memoirs and a history of popular music in and around the Lehigh Valley circa 1960s to the present. The book will be titled, "I Never Worked at Bethlehem Steel," and there are two publishers interested already and here's hoping for a bidding war.

Steve and Ara have been interviewing local music mavens & movers & shakers & significant others for about a year: Jerry Deane, Jay Proctor, Pat Wallace, Dave Fry, Dave Sestak, Bill (ahem) Villa, and many others, and the plan is for Steve and Ara to get everybody who counts (and who can still remember the 60s, 70s, and 80s) on the record and in the book. This should be a great read! And there'll no doubt be some great photos in there too!

During his interview, Bill waxed poetic on The Daddy Licks Band (1979-1986, and, 2006-Present), telling some great stories (old & new) about the band (Bill was/is The Daddy Licks Band's manager) as well as our popular power-pop band, The Villas (1999-Present).

BTW, you can see Steve Brosky, The Daddy Licks Band, and The Villas at Mayfair 2010, so check the schedule and save the date and be there!

And be sure to check out Steve Brosky's latest release that he freebie-comped us (Merci, Steve), "a collection of bro-sky," a "greatest hits" selection of songs from Steve's previous 6 CDs, a great batch of 12 songs on one Brosky disc.

Singer, songwriter, musicologist, frequent Lehigh Valley Music Award Winner, funky hunky king, and now, author, Steve Brosky. An impressive resume addition, Steve, and hey man, we want a signed & numbered copy of "I Never Worked at Bethlehem Steel" as soon as it's ready to read.

Thanks again for bopping by, it was nice seeing you here again, and also great meeting hipster Ara Barlieb.

Allentown Ethics Board Makes Mockery of Ethics

April 19 UpDate: "Allentown Ethics Board Makes Mockery of Ethics" has been honored as the most influential per post blog in Pennsylvania this week. LVS was similarly honored last week. Thank you, LVS readers.

On Apr 14, 2010, at 4:40:01 PM, J. Jackson Eaton, III wrote:

RE: Board of Ethics of the City of Allentown

Dear Mr. Villa:

As a member of the Board of Ethics of the City of Allentown, I am writing to you on behalf of the Board concerning your e-mail sent to Committee [sic] members on April 6, 2010 with a complaint regarding a City official and request for a hearing under the City’s Code of Ethics.

The Board met to consider certain procedural issues (Mr. Velasquez [sic] was unable to participate). [BV Note: M.I.A. "Ethics" board member and former Allentown City Council person Marty Velazquez's parents lived across the street from my parents for over a decade.]

First, digital communications have advanced a long way since the time the Code of Ethics was adopted, but Section 171.10(F) dealing with requests still provides in part that, "In no case shall the Board entertain a request that is not in writing and not signed by the person making the request." Accordingly, the Board must ask that you submit your request again signed by you. [BV Note: this "signed hard copy" thing is a chicken shit maneuver designed to slow me up and buy the "Ethics" board some time. Notice that it's okay for Mr. Eaton to send me an email, i.e., not "signed hard copy."]

The Board also notes that under the provisions of the City Code establishing the Board of Ethics, individuals a [sic] submitting a request or complaint do not have the right to demand a hearing. [BV Note: My submission was a "Request" for a Hearing. I made no "demands."] See: Related Post

The Code provides that "The Board shall also render written advisory opinions in circumstances where there is alleged to be a conflict of interest or unethical conduct on the part of any official or employee of the City within the scope of the Code of Ethics." Section 171.09(E).

It is the employee or official against whom the complaint is made that has the option to request a hearing:

"Employer or official involved in the request shall have the opportunity within fifteen (15) days after receipt of the request to respond in writing, to make a written request for a hearing or to do both... The Board shall upon receipt of a request for a hearing within the period above referred to by the official or employee involved set a time and place for the hearing for the purposes of determining the facts." Sections 171.09(H) and (I).

[BV Note: everybody catching this ... "it is the employee or official against whom the complaint is made that has the option to request a hearing," that is, only the accused city insider can request and get a hearing. The injured party? "Get help" elsewhere.]

The Board will, of course, respond to whatever request you make, [BV Note: Oh I'm sure, and I believe I can predict your "response" right now] but wanted to make you aware of these provisions of the Code of Ethics as it [sic] may affect the information you wish to provide in any future request. For your convenience, a copy of the Code of Ethics is attached.

Finally, in response to the Board’s acknowledgment of your filing, you raised the question of a possible conflict because a son of one of my partners was the driver of the vehicle in which your daughter was killed several years ago. First, personally and as a father, let me express my sympathy to you because of this tragic event. However, I do not believe that such event which involved Mr. LaBarre’s son or the other circumstances surrounding the event would affect any decisions I would make in considering the substance of any further complaint you may file or otherwise would prevent a conflict. [BV Note: I agree totally w/ your Freudian slip, JJ, that nothing will "prevent" your blatant conflict of interest here. And, re: the "other circumstances surrounding the event," readers, I need to point out that it was Attorney Eaton, and not I, who brought these "other circumstances" up, in the context of "not preventing" a conflict of interest. Interesting, eh?]

After discussing your e-mail with the Board, and with their concurrence, have [sic] determined that I will continue to participate in this matter as a member of the Board. [BV Note: Well sure, the "Ethics" board wants JJ Eaton as their hatchet man on this b/c the other members are too pusillanimous to take me on. Heck, Marty Velazquez was too scared to even attend the procedural "fix" meeting.]

Sincerely, [BV Note: you're not fooling me, JJ.]

Jackson,

I think the letter looks good. There?s one small thing that is probably a mistake in the second to the last sentence. You say that you do not believe that the events "would prevent a conflict". I believe you mean "would present a conflict". It may be that you want to clarify that in some way, given what may be sensitivity on the part of the recipient of the letter. -Maria [BV Note: "sensitivity?" Right. Most people just shrug off accusations of necrophilia w/ their deceased daughter (as published by Allentown City Council Vice President Michael Donovan at his blog), Maria, I must be over-reacting.]

((Me ... and apparently I was "cc'd" by Rev. Canon Maria by mistake on her email to JJ Eaton, Allentown Ethics Board, Mayor Edwin Pawlowski, and City Clerk Mike Hanlon))

Ethics Board, do me a favor:

please don't "cc" me on your internal procedural maneuverings all designed to achieve one thing-- i.e., avoiding having to address my legitimate issues with W. Michael Donovan, okay? It's insulting. Ditto any charade regarding "sensitivity" towards me. That's almost laughable.

FYI, you will be addressing my legitimate issues with Donovan via my re-submitted, in writing, and signed, document, with supporting evidence. Look for it within the next few days.

And do your crony-crooked maneuverings in private like how they're supposed to be done.
