D'Amore & Donovan: Dumb & Dumber

9/2 UpDate: Morning Call "newspaper" pulls its punches and shields crony D'Amore from scrutiny, like how they do it w/ Jim Martin. Contrast The Morning Call's crony-colluding coverup w/ the fair & balanced, accurate, astute, and D'Amore-revealing coverage by excellent reporter Stephanie Esposito and 69 News.

Bill and Angie, I know there was a second "controversial confrontation" at City Council last night that was also met w/ stony silence. I'm assuming 69 News captured that episode? Any idea when it will be shown?

9/1 UpDate: Incredibly, and dumb-foundingly, there is no follow-up story on this in today's 100% Integrity-Free Morning Call "newspaper" so far.

8/31: Read/Watch Morning Call "newspaper" 'quickie coverage' of a truly shocking story. More coming later, we hope ...?

WOW, as fast as Allentown Mayor Pawlowski is ATTRACTING new businesses here, that's how quickly City Councilors D'Amore & Donovan are DRIVING THEM AWAY!

Blogger Bill Villa said...

What D'Amore and Barron were trying to manipulate on AUG 10 at T-Mobile was a gross abuse of position and an interference in a management/worker issue they had no business sticking their official noses into. They both should get booted out of their positions (and out of our sight) ASAP.

Kudos to LVCI for breaking this story which Gladys Kravitz then quickly copied.

Will "oppressed minority" (wink wink) defender, ie, duped dunce Donovan, deftly (& definitevely) decide to defend (or denounce) duped dunce Damore?

Wonder where the Allentown Ethics Board will stand on this issue?

Excellent questions that deserve to be answered.

(almost forgot)

Kudos to Morning Call "newspaper" "reporter" Jarrett Renshaw for loafing and trolling 'round the local blogosphere for his stories. Maybe one day he'll steal and "break" all this, just sayin'.

Isn't this an abuse of position?

Does the Allentown City Council now endorse unions?

What a friggin fool!

What is so mind bogging about the Politics in this region is that these elected officials don't hide the reality that their votes are for sale. They depend on the Local Unions to be elected and the Unions seem to be the first in line for paybacks. I suspect it may have something to do with generation after generation of Unions running both local county Governments. Where loyalty is sold by the pound and dam the peons who actually do the heavy lifting.

When I read about local Politics I get the impression of a script for the TV show of "My namer is Earl". You can't make up some of these creatures whose character is more like a caricature of a sitcom then a Civic Minded Citizen who has the best interest of the Public before their own special needs.
I assume that when you work in a Fish Factory, you don't know it stinks. Or one just get so use to it, that it starts to pass as normal. That stench is hard to get rid of once it permeates.

"Isn't this an abuse of position?"

I can't see how it could be perceived any other way.

D'Amore and Barron were trying to strong-arm T-Mobile ... and they were using their positions as leverage. It was stupid and embarrassing. As if Allentown isn't embarrassing enough. They both should get booted from their positions (and out of our sight) ASAP.

And don't get me wrong, I'm pro-union.

I was a member of the United Steelworkers (USW) (BethSteel, 1972-1976) and the United Auto Workers (UAW) (Mack Trucks, 1978-1988).

I'm against unfair play and negotiating in bad faith, whether it's being done by the company, or the union, and during my USW and UAW stints I saw plenty of abuses by both sides.

What D'Amore and Barron were trying to manipulate on AUG 10 at T-Mobile was a gross abuse of position and an interference in a management/worker issue they had no business sticking their official noses into. And they come off as total buffoons in the videos.

Professor Donovan.
Professor D'Amore.
Professor Pooley.

What a bizarro world Allentown is where the most educated are the dumbest of the dumb.

Bill Villa said...

Well said. D'Amore and Pooley actually have PhDs.

HEY! Morning Call "newspaper." Get off your dumb ass and out from behind your computer and follow-up on this D'Amore/Barron story instead of stalking LVS. Fuckin' lazy dumb-asses you are.

Thanks for asking, City O. I have an email in to 69 News Director Brad Rinehart ...

Q. After City Council, did 69 News ask Mike Donovan the question I know is #1 on your list, i.e., why won't Donovan apologize to the Villa family?

And whatever Donovan's answer was (if any), as you know, if you've been reviewing the footage, I got off dozens of background sound bites into 69's camera before the meeting that I feel very good about, and for you to choose from, re: counter balance fairness.

Q. Will you be airing something on this tonight?

Readers, we received this e-mail from Channel 69 News Director Brad Rinehart at 12:33 pm today:

Bill,

I am indeed working on this for tonight. I will tell you this is EXTREMELY difficult to handle in the time contraints of TV, and the story became more complicated because, after you left, council discussed whether they should and could curtail your comments. There was a healthy debate on this with many of the members, including Donovan, reluctant to place limits on the "privilege of the floor." They reached no conclusion, but D'Amore ended by asking for legal advice on what their "boundaries" might be. So we have to explain all that as well.

The story is so complicated with so many angles that my idea at this point is to do about a minute on the 5 pm news showing you asking for an apology followed by silence, and then point people to our website for more detail. There we can better explain all the background and help people understand your grievance as well as Donovan's position on the matter.

Donovan essentially said that he would apologize if he felt he'd done something wrong. He also claims he did not intentionally delete the posts when he changed his web format.

Brad

Oh. So Donovan intended to KEEP ALL THOSE OFFENSIVE COMMENTS UP THERE. I see. Well, I have hard copy of everything Donovan "accidentally"(wink wink) deleted if he'd like to restore everything (?)

Re: he'd apologize "IF he had done something wrong," hey, Mikey, take your pick ...

[ ] WRONG to let out of town hate bloggers take over your blog for a month

[ ] WRONG to not check your blog more frequently for unmoderated, sadistically cruel and libelous comments

[ ] WRONG to keep hundreds of offensive comments up at your blog for 4 months

[ ] WRONG to encourage offensive commenters by commenting yourself that their offensive comments were "fun to read"

[ ] WRONG (as an A-Town Arts Commissioner) to allow a blog forum for boycotting The Villas musical performance at Mayfair, including suggestions of bringing "noisemakers" to disrupt the performance

[ ] WRONG to refuse to admit wrongdoing

[ ] WRONG to refuse to apologize

... to name just a few of the wrongs Donovan's not gonna get away w/ .

I kind like this version better:
Old Bill Villa had a blog,
V- I- L – L – A,
And on that blog he wrote some shit,
V- I- L – L – A,
He wrote shit here, he wrote shit there,
He wrote shit bout’ everywhere..
Old Bill Villa wrote some shit,
V- I- L – L – A,

Whaddaya say Billy boy, you gonna put this on your next album?
Where you going to fit it in with all your other original songs? Which one you going to delete?
Glenn Kranzley is a devil worshipper,
OR
Jim Martin should choke on my fist?
Really Bill, every song you guys do is pretty damn awful, that’s why you aren’t getting gigs.
IMHO, I think you should delete a piece of the newer material.
How about “Duped Dunces Mike and Mike don’t love me no more?”

That one could go, I just want to help.
